Cristian De La Peña Professional Fine Art Instructor from Chile educated in New York City at the then Water street Studios, now called the Grand central Academy of Art where he studied with some of the most highly acclaimed master teachers in the Classical Old Master style way of teaching.
“After long conversations and meetings with intellectual artists and pioneers regarding the study of art, I realized the need to offer Classical training to students who really wanted to advance using a controlled, methodical manner of teaching.”
Cristian De La Peña.
The Academy offers a thriving environment for Classical Instruction using different mediums, Charcoal & pencil, Oil paints and Clay sculpting. The goal of the Academy is to train a generation of new artists to a highly skilled level, to form aesthetically sensitive artists in the humanist tradition. The mission of The London Academy of Art is to offer a private inspiring place for the revival of the classical art traditions; to foster and support a community of artists in pursuit of aesthetic refinement, achieving a high level of skill and beautifully executed drawings and paintings.
The Studio uses historic cast collection of many classical copies of greek and Roman features and figures. Using anatomical casts of faces and hands to obtain more insight into drawing the body.
The London Academy of art is situated in Limehouse docklands in East London with a large space, high ceilings and large windows.
Mission Statement
The London Academy of Art is hoping to build a new movement of European art modeling itself after the artistic, social and spiritual European values of the Spanish, Dutch, Flemish, Italian, English, and French schools.Bringing together and reawakening enthusiasm for the Old Masters work, the vigorous but unfocused scene of contemporary still life and landscape painting and the urgent need for the renewed reverence for reality, by bringing back the skills and spirit of the pre-impressionist painters. The program will give much needed direction to a new generation of European painters. As we learn to carefully study and reflect on the cast and still life. These artists and their beautiful representations will help to lead the culture back to stronger connection to the observation of Reality, something Cristian De La Peña our head teacher is very passionate about.
